Frequently Asked Questions

Why should I see an Esthetician?

An esthetician can help you achieve a healthier, more radiant complexion, manage acne, rosacea, eczema and dry skin or offer skin brightening solutions through treatments and product recommendations.

What are your policies?

I ask that you please give a 24 hour notice if you are unable to keep your appointment. For appointments that are not canceled or rescheduled within 24 hours your card will be charged 50% of the service.

Refunds and Service Guarantee - I do not offer refunds but guests have up to 7 days from original service date to request any changes be made to achieve their desired results.

What facial is right for me and what is dermaplaning?

I know that choosing a facial can be hard when you are unsure what your skin type is or of what products are used or what they do. Which is why at afterglow Esthetics I offer 3 different types of facial based solely on time, everything else is customized to your skin type and concerns.

Dermaplaning is an add on service I offer that is minimally invasive. This service uses a scalpel to remove dead skin cells and peach fuzz from the top layer of skin. The benefits of dermaplaning include reduced appearance of acne scars, minor imperfections, increased collagen production, flawless make up application, and the opportunity for products to penetrate deeper. The aftercare of dermaplaning includes avoiding sun, exercise, steam, swimming, and touching your face for 24 hours. Discontinue regional and vitamin A and no waxing products for 5-7 days.

What products do you use?

I have chosen to use Circadia in my treatment room as they offer products for every skin type, including Rosacea. Circadia also offers in-depth training on their protocols and products to ensure I can educate, you the client, with proper up to date information so we can achieve desired results.

I utilize DermWax Elite hard Wax for my waxing services. DermWax is formulated for the most sensitive skin types, is hypoallergenic, fragrance - free and vegan so it is suitable for all skin types while still providing the best results.

Will my Wax hurt? What to do before and after your Wax?

The way you prepare for your Wax before and after helps determine if your Wax will be painful or not. I do my best to ensure your Wax is as comfortable as possible by providing numbing cream, utilizing speed techniques, and walking you through the process. The service will take about 20 minutes to complete and there is typically a quick sharp pulling sensation that is similar to ripping off a bandage. Some things to do before your Wax to help it go smoothly include taking a hot shower, a over the counter pain reliever 30 minutes before your appointment, exfoliating the day before you Wax, moisturizing the area, and wearing loosing fitting clothes.Use of accutane, retinols, and steriods must be stopped prior to service. After your Wax you will want to avoided any exercise, steam, swimming, sexual activity, touching of the area for 24 hours and then 3 days after your Wax continue exfoliating and moisturizing the area.

Tip: you can still be waxed on your menstrual cycle, I just ask you to put in a fresh feminine cup or tampon. However, it may make you more sensitive to the service.
